I have an HP PC using Win98SE. I also have a Sony Vaio laptop (virtually
unused, nothing on it that I would fear replacing) using ME. I
am interested in literally moving everything from the PC (about 5
Gig) to the laptop (20 Gig hard drive). I would just as soon
stay with Win98SE and its programming which currently support a scanner,
digital camera, three different printers (HP, Canon and Lexmark
laser), two PDAs, an external CD-RW and BusLink hard drive (USB).
The HP PC has a built-in zip drive. I also own an external zip
drive and would probably connect that to the laptop as well. The
laptop has a built in CD-Rom/RW/DVD drive and is mounted on a
dock to provide additional options when used at the desk.

Is the idea of the total transfer (I have a registered Win98SE)
of the PC to the laptop feasible? Will I lose the options
available on the laptop (I am particularly thinking that ME may
be driving the CD-ROM/RW/DVD drive).

I have FastMove and used the cable to try some transfers
yesterday and had quite a few failed connections, suspect they
involved moving Win98 programming. I have returned the laptop
via its reformat/reinstall disk to its original status. I am
ready to try again if my idea isn't "pie in the sky" and hope
someone here can provide explicit instructions (I have never done
anything like this before).

Many thanks.

Elaine
