Hi:
When turned on, the computer screen shows this
message: ROM BIOS checksum failure.
The A: drive is still recognized and the computer will boot
to an a: prompt. The c: drive is not recognized.
The computer is 2 years old with a tyan S 1854 ATX motherboard and
a Pent3 600 cpu. 128 Mb. The hard drive has windows 98 SE.
Admittedly the information is sketchy but I am looking
for suggestions for the best next step.
The machine has never been on-line and never had any
downloaded programs installed. A couple of store
purchased programs have been installed
With only the A: drive, is it possible to try to flash the
ROM BIOS. Where do I get the BIOS update info and
the flash program?
With the BIOS losing its memory, is it a better idea to
purchase a replacement BIOS? Where is the best
place to find a replacement or an update?
Any and all help appreciated.
Wally
