Thanks for your reply. I only recorded one
previous reply to my message and I did then check the
battery. It had more than three volts, and was good. I
should have mentioned that in my last message. I was
hoping to find someone who had experienced a failed
ROM BIOS and could advise how they recovered from it.
At turn-on, the only message is that the ROM BIOS
checksum has failed. There is no way to get to the CMOS
set up by pressing delete etc. All you can do is boot to
the prompt from the A: drive. The c: drive is not seen and
when you try to extract information to the A: drive, the
computer will not let you write to it. ( I tried to use a CMOS
save and recovery program).
My access to the Internet is tenuous with Juno and a slow
486 computer, but I will try, and see what information I can
get from the Tyan web site.
