Larry, by design the MSBackup utility does not support cd/cdrw/dvdr media. 
You might be able to add it to the list but it won't work properly. See 
this MS KB

Windows 2000 and XP have not added these media to the supported media list 
either.
Windows backup considers media of this type to be read only and such will 
not backup to it.
