The modem is a USB and is installed on Windows98SE. I need to connect it to my other computer running XP Home. The computers are about 25 feet apart. Would a direct connection using 2 NIC's do what I want, or should a router be used?

Internal, external, USB, serial, Ethernet, etc., and also I see where someone asked what OS you're using. -Clint Having just setup an ADSL broadband connection I now need to connect another computer to use the connection.
