I think if someone fills it out, they should THEN post what
happens, and let us know if they receive it. NeoTrace only
shows UU.net for that URL, how did you trace it Roger?

On Friday, 10/18/02, I got this note from pcworks-digest:

  Hi all.

I just saw this on a freebie board.. I hope it's okay to
post it
  here..
I already got a response back, that they're sending it to
me...

If anyone wants it.. Here it is.

  Free Norton Systemwork 2003

This freebie is from Symantec directly.

Yeah, right, Helene. that's how Symantec stays in business,
by giving
away their product.
The site looks bogus to me. I hope you didn't give them the
requested
information. It looks like an address gathering scheme to me.
Of course, I may be wrong, but I would check it out first. I
did a trace
on the URL and came up with little to link it to symantec.

Clint! i filled it out and received a message back that I will receive the product in 2 to 3 weeks. Systemworks 2003 has gotten mixed reviews and was compared to 2002 as an unnecessary release. That could be the reason why Symantec in partnership is distributing their new product NFR version for free. Like someone else said NFR copies are offered all the time to gain a word-of-mouth energy for a program that might not be fully formed or has a taint on it.

I too have not been able to trace the address on any site. But there is no indication that a security company conscious firm like Symantec would make it easy to back trace a URL.

I certainly will report my findings as soon as I obtain the copy.
