I have used CleanSweep for years.  It works with ME.  I think
one of its best features is the ability to clean up the registry
and I do that about once a month.  ME tends to fight it a bit
because of ME's restore features, so I assume the same applies to
XP.  However, I wouldn't be without it and allow it to tell me
what can (green light) be safely removed and do not proceed with
anything that brings up a caution (yellow light) entry.  Works
for me.
