Oh, well if this is the FIRST PC exposure, YES, you by ALL MEANS need to LEAVE those arrows there! They need to learn the difference between a shortcut, and what one is...it's properties, etc., from a 'real file'. I don't know exactly what portion of the boot process this is happening. If it's right before the desktop loads: look at the startup tab in MSCONFIG and you'll just have to uncheck items by elimination to figure out what's causing it. If it's mid-way in the boot process: see what's in the autoexec.bat file. If anything, uncheck them one by one until you find something that changes things. (for one example only; some AV software is in the autoexec.bat and can hang-up the boot process). If it's at the start of the process, just after POST: something in the BIOS could have been changed recently. Or, a drive/memory/ or PC card could be going bad. First before you check/do any of this you need to disabled the windows splash screen during the boot process so you can see what's going on (TweakUI).
