No this was a clean install, I NEVER do any 'upgrading' of an OS on top of another.
I'm not having any program problems. Luckily everything I was using before was XP compatible (or had an XP version), except for NAV. If it was your old 98 system, I am wondering if you might think (as horrible as the idea might be after what you have run into) of starting over and reinstalling both 98 and then XP, each in its own partition, and have your system be dual boot capabable??? Then this type of problem you have run into with compatability and others would not be an issue, since you could boot into 98 to run stuff made for a 9x kernel, and into XP for stuff made to run in a 2K kernel.
