Hi all, I'm running XP Pro, and I'm trying to run a program that is not supported by XP. It's an older version of Norton AntiV*rus, which only supported up to WinME. I found out that XP has a "compatibility mode", so I opened that and set the setup.exe to run in 98/ME compatibility mode. Now the program WILL start to install, it DOES NOT 'complain' anymore that it's not made for Windows XP. However the problem now is a window pops up saying "cannot find......." and it lists the path to the Temp folder to a file called NAVKRNLN.VXD. That file IS THERE in the temp folder, in the EXACT correct path! Yet the error window keeps popping up that it cannot find the file!
I compared the registry entry of "KnownDLLs" to the DLL's in the system32 folder, and the DLL's that were in the registry that were not in the system32 folder, I ADDED. There were two of them; rasapi16.dll and mapi.dll. I believe mapi has something to do with email, but I added it anyway. I didn't look up what rasapi16.dll was. I left the system32 folder open. This is supposed to fix compatibility problems, yet it did nothing. I then deleted those two DLL's. I didn't restart after I added them to the folder for fear of screwing something up. So does anyone have any ideas what's going on?
