I probably did not phrase my problem very well with that 1st post.(30 lashes
with a wet noodle for me :-)). More to the point, I am having multiple
problems. First I must enable the floppy controller in the bios before it
will boot from a floppy. I am booting with a win98 boot disk which contains
the cd rom drivers. The hard drive is new, and freshly fdisked, partitioned,
and formatted. I am attempting to copy the install files for win98 from the
cd to hard drive. The files start copying, and get just so far, then the
process just stops, leaving a blinking _. When I try to start over again,
the floppy is disabled again in the bios. This is the second cd I've tried,
so I don't think the cd is the problem, nor the hard drive. I am relatively
sure there is something else causing these components to act so weird, but I
don't know where to look. Maybe the MB, or processor has gone bad? I'm
curious more than anything else as to what would cause these sorts of
problems. I am CC'ing this to the list in hopes someone there might have run
into these problems & maybe have the answers.
