Maybe someone here is familiar with this. I recently got an Olympus C5050 digital camera and today the Samsung 128mb SmartMedia card went dead (purchased separately). The XD card STILL WORKS, so it's evidently a problem with the SM card (of which I've heard of before*).
I've used a card reader (6 in 1 USB 2.0 reader/writer) to read data from the SM card and it is STILL working fine. I can drag things onto the SM card and delete. Out of desperation I even formatted the card on a PC from the reader and that still didn't help. Someone sent me two programs to run that would format/restore the SM card (and another that would enable panoramic function on NON Olympus media). I've tried running them on XP and '98 and respectively get these errors: "Smart media drivers are not loaded"...and "Smart media FILTER drivers are not loaded". I've tried running the programs from the media card itself, and from the desktop. Is anyone familiar with these errors? Seemingly from the errors the programs are not seeing any SM drivers. The brand of the reader, from the logo looks like "PQI" PN: FRAT-00. * (I've also heard that formatting on a Fuji 'cam will fix it, but no Fuji camera around here).
