Liz, Wow. . .18-hours!!! I use Doug Knox "defrag_all2.vbs" available FREE http://www.dougknox.com/
I first run "Enditall" to close all unneeded programs, then run "defrag_all2.vbs" I run the defrag at least weekly, and it takes less than 10-min to defrag my 40GB HD and my 80GB External USB HD. Each HD has about 9GB of files. I DO NOT use a screen saver, therefore when I run "Enditall," there's nothing to interfere with defrag. Ed ----- Original Message ----- From: "Liz" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Thanks for all the great tips.. I ran the scan disk in Safe Mode .. It took over 18 hours!! Is that normal?? We bought the computer in February.. I had never ran the thorough scan disk prior to this.. Just seemed like a very long time.. Thanks again you all are the greatest, Liz Vee ============= PCWorks Mailing List ================= Don't see your post?
