I reformatted the hard drive and everything worked fine.
For some reason, the drivers CD is really slow like the CD-ROM has trouble reading
it...all other CD's
work fine.
Thanks to all for the responses...

Subject: PCWorks: Computer help.

I have a customer bring me there I think Gateway computer...
When I put a CD in the drive, I get a blue screen about an error.
The drive works fine from DOS, such as if I boot to Norton to check for virii.
This is WIN ME..
Customer also states it will not find modem...they are right, none listed in system
properties.
There were no restore points saved.
Scan disk found no errors.
I placed the startup CD in the drive and booted to that at an attempt to remove
Windows folder and restore
windows, when I left the shop, it still said deleting c:\windows after about an hour.
I left it like this when I left.
Now, since it reads the drive in DOS..does this mean the CD-ROM is OK?
I tried restarting after deselecting every thing...in startup(msconfig).
I did try removing the CDROM and restarting and same thing happened.
I'm at home now and no I should include more information..but I'm leaving town on
Sunday and need to get
this done by Saturday...
I think once I get the CD-ROM working, I can figure out how to get the modem back..
