Larry

Have you checked the motherboard bios to see if the port somehow got turned
off by accident. I used to to printer support for one of the major
manufacturer's out there and we always checked the bios setup to make sure
it is turned on. I cannot think of anything else.

Sincerely;
Mike

Subject: PCWorks: LPT1 port seems to have disappeared!

This is not my computer but a friends. They have Win 98 and we installed a
different printer and its driver which worked on my Win98 systems just fine.
Now when we look at printers the Epson 640 is dimmed and when I go to device
manager and choose ports I do not see the LPT1. I have tried capture to no
avail and I am not sure if the port is defective all of a sudden or what. I
also disconnected the port from the back of the computer which also did not
help. I also reinstalled the drivers for the Epson 640 which also did not
help. I will change the cable next. Any thoughts on how to troubleshoot
this.
It worked the day I installed it.

Thanks Larry
