To one and all, Probably everyone on the list is aware - BUT just to make sure:
Make sure you TRIPLE-CHECK any and all emails that involve credit card info. I just got today my fourth email, totally bogus, in the last several weeks, that involved telling me that something was a problem with my credit card, ISP account, personal info, etc, etc, etc. This is getting to be a *** MAJOR *** problem that is getting to be unreal. >From what I have read, and personally experienced, the fraud thieves have gotten unbelievable with generating emails that look like they are totally authentic from legit sources, such as Best Buy, CompUSA, Earthlink, AOL, and any number of other legit organizations and/or companies. The problem is that you would have to be very careful and completely check the source of the email. I personally have gotten where anything that looks suspicious I call up the real company or organization to find out if this is legit or not - in all cases, the email is bogus, and is just trying to steal credit card info, personal info, or similiar. Unfortunately, the worst cases have involved, in many cases, the elderly and similar - they are getting to be victims of identity theft. So, PLEASE, one and all, be aware for yourself, and warn those you know, to be on the look out for these very authentic looking but totally bogus emails going around.
