I've been using free AV programs since I started using the 'net and have
never regretted it. PC Magazine did a review last year and AVG was about
third or fourth, behind Norton and McCaffee, but its overall effectiveness
was rated very good.
I frequently remove McCaffee and Norton when they screw up my client's
computers and replace with AVG.
The updates are frequent and easy, and AVG has caught several infected
emails for me.

...so, is there any
disadvantage in using the free stuff? If grisoft is as good as Norton or
McAfee then isn't it a no brainer to go with the freeware
