I still don't know what you're trying to do with the
existing/old PC or why you are using BCwipe exactly. Last time
I used it, you have to TELL it what to delete the same way you
delete things now by right clicking them (and in BCwipe's case)
select it in the right click context menu to "wipe" what you
are clicking. Again, if all you want to do is give the old PC
to someone or sell it, just format it a couple of times. Or,
use the HD's manufacturer's floppy and boot from it, then
"write zeroes to the drive".

BCwipe is just a delete utility that uses a DoD type deletion
process for security purposes. Ben suggested it for deletion
of any of your potentially "sensitive data". A format is
usually enough, but there ARE ways to easily recover data from
a FORMATTED HD, if you know where to look. So, BCwipe adds the
option of totally wiping specific data before you reformat.

Hi Ben & Clint.
Thanks so much. I will copy my address book to Outlook - and
see if that
works. I tried it before, and wasn't able to.. But I'll give it
another
shot..
Also, I'll try to do my bookmarks as well.. Thanks for the
tips.

I had no idea about the battery. except when reading someone
had "pulled
it". so I didnt know what it did/or does.. Thanks. I WONT" pull
it. I'll
just run the BC Wipe program. and that should take care of
everything.

So, when I do the BC wipe program. will that take away all my
emails. as
well as any cookies, any personal data??

Then, when the computer is "clean". then do I just install the
windows
disc again, or the boot disc??

Also.. a friend told me. to go to Settings,, Harddrive, C..
wipe it
out.. and then go to Settings Hardrive A. .and then wipe that
out.. ??
Is that another way of doing, what you're saying the BC wipe
program
does.. or is that something entirely different.. I was talking
to her
yesterday, and she said, Just do this. and you should get rid
of
everything.. Does this sound accurate.. Or is she talking about
something else??

thanks again, for all your help.. When I get my new computer,
you can
bet I'll be asking - Yelling for help.. Cause between a new
computer, a
new operating system(it's going to have XP Professional). and
then me
switching to IE. and Outlook(maybe for my mail). I"ll be
needing LOTS of
help.. :-)

Oh another quick question, I have Norton System Works 2003.. If
you're
saying NOT to install the System Works. can you just install
the Vi***
part. and the Go-Back feature??

Thanks.
