On another note,, I just checked and my Dell has been shipped..(yesterday).. so it should be here, by the 17th. or 18th.. So, I'm getting excited about the new computer.. though, still a bit terrified of learning a new set-up. especially XP. since I'm so used to Windows 98.. Oh well, times, are changing, and I guess I'm going with the change.. :-)

Helene if what you're asking is how to wipe the old HD, before you possible sell the old PC or give it to someone; a couple of formats is usually ok. However I would use that BCwipe program to delete certain personal things on the PC, then format it.
The battery is just for the BIOS and removing it is the same as the 'clear CMOS' jumper. All that does it reset the BIOS back to default. You don't want to do that. -Clint
