Hi Hugh..
I did install Adobe..(acrobat reader). to be able to read PDF files. etc..
Alot of things require you to have adobe.. that I do know.

As far as Norton/vs.. McAffee.. vs.. AVG.. I'm using the 3 months free of
McAfee right now. I'm more comfortable with Norton System Works. as I like
ALL the features.. I used to have my old computer set. to run a one step, a
vir*s scan, scan disk, and defrag.. once a week.. So I'll probably go back
to doing that. unless told otherwise..by all of you..That was with Norton.

I had used AVG.. for a short time. with my old computer, before getting
Norton.. years ago. and it did nothing but give me alot of computer problems
for some reason.(I was using windows 98.. and a Gateway then). but whatever
it was.. I had to delete that program.

I"m going to install Ad-aware today. Someone told me. to install spybot or
something like that. as well.. I use a dial up. so I'm not using a
firewall.. When I had put the McAffee firewall. on the computer. last
week(prior to getting this new hardrive on Monday). it crashed the computer.
2x.. So I got rid of it.. I was told that the McAfee firewall. is not good..
By ALL the Dell techs I had spoken to..

Also.. are there any other installs that you can think of ..?? that I should
be doing. I'm going to check out Wilders.org.. later, and see whats there. I
dont' remember.. But I know they list alot of free downloads.

Thanks.

helene
