Hee hee. I know. I forgot to mention, you do NOT have to have the program running in the background or loaded at windows startup for it to work. I too noticed it does some kind of "indexing" but it must be some kind of "genius algorithm" since it does it so incredibly fast. You should periodically "index new files" so it will find new files created. Or you can let it do it at a specified time, but I prefer not to have anything running in the BG. You never had to "index any new files" with other Windows OS' so I guess that's another XP screwup. -Clint God Bless Us All Clint Hamilton, Owner http://OrpheusComputing.com ) ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ben Moore" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> I never have understood why search in Windows has progressively gotten more feeble with every new upgrade to the operating system. WinXP is just atrocious. I can't figure out what the indexing service is for since it doesn't seem to speed up searches and seems to periodically go berserk while it's indexing and bogs your computer down. I have 4 120 GB hard drives on my main system and you ought to see how long it takes if I let it search all the hard drives. X1 uses indexing too ( I think that's how it displays results as you type) but they must be a little better at designing the indexing service than MS. It also does web searches. Maybe that is why it's looking for internet access. I just downloaded it. Going to give it try.
