To one and all,

Well, I am getting to realize that I just dont know these days where a
LOT of the common locations where you set values in Win98 are in XP -
for example, I could instantly tell you how to set all file extensions
to be hid or displayed in 98, how to turn on or off all hidden or system
files, and a LOT of other system settings.

And after looking at my reference books for XP, I get to think a lot of
the authors seem to almost assume that you know exactly what to look
under in the index or table of content to find these values (this is
what I bought this book for??? - to be frustrated???) By the way, we are
talking XP Pro in this case.

I have gotten to know where a number of things are located but I sure
have discovered I just dont know these days where in the world MS hid
them at now in many cases.

And trying to find information on a lot of these topics on MS's web site
of tech info is sometimes a total experience in frustration as well -
put in the phrase which should give at least 1 answer gives a grand
total of Null and Void. Or you get 100 articles back, none of which have
the answer you originally were looking for (what in the world are they
using for their search engine drivers???)

So WHERE in the world is the best source of some of those most
fundamental setting questions that I used to get in a snap of the
fingers in 98 but seem to be totally dogging me in XP (trying to find
the same stuff in 2000 is also the same kind of hair pulling exercise I
have found as well.)

HELP!!!!
