I'm wondering what's happening with the spam. I had an email this week from a woman in NZ asking about a computer problem who said she got my email address from Ask Jeeves. I tried it but couldn't duplicate what she did and she couldn't remember exactly what she searched on. I can find mail messages from our list on Ask.com but the email addresses are hidden. From Clint's description of his problems though, somehow addresses are getting out.
I wonder sometimes if ISP's or even the company that runs the mailing list have someone selling addresses. I know several years ago when I signed up for Hotmail, I got spam within a day of setting up the account and I hadn't given it out and it wasn't an address that would be easy to come up with in those alphabetic spam attacks. Someone at hotmail had to be passing the info on. Sorry Clint is leaving. Well this is unbelievable. I just spent a #$!&@ WEEK changing ALL of my email addresses, and deleting ALL of my previous ones thanks to spamming scumbags. Only a few days after changing my email address for THIS LIST, I'm now getting SPAM on it! This was a DEDICATED SPECIAL email address used ONLY for THIS LIST, and now it's getting attacked!! And it comes as NO SURPRISE it's "courtesy of" the criminal [EMAIL PROTECTED]@rds at Comcast (whom are as bad as the Chinese & the WORST USA ISP), with their LACNIC scum members whom they insist upon giving net access to!! I cannot take this, my business cannot take it and my HEALTH cannot take it. So, I'm unsubscribing, the hell with this crap. Not that that's going to be a big deal to anyone, I'm just letting the list know that this list IS INDEED plagued with: 1. Parasites that belong to it; 2. The archives are being "spambotted"; 2. Our addresses are getting sold; or any combination of the three. With the MOST AGGRESSIVE spam filters probably used by ANYONE, with 900 filters and counting, it still cannot stop the attacks. This is why I cannot see posts by numerous members here; your IP's are blocked due to your ISP's allowing spamming. If I must post something, I'll just have to ask some friends of mine to post it and I'll have to watch the archives. So long! -Clint ============= PCWorks Mailing List ================= Don't see your post?
