Lisa,
Open spy bot and click the restore button, then look at the cookies before you delete
and uncheck any that
have WS_FTP in them.

Hi Clint,

I just checked the restore in Spybot, and it looks like mostly cookies
were deleted for tracking on websites. I don't know if anything was
associated with WS_FTP Pro. I had a few other problems, too, like my
digital camera software not working and had to reinstall that, too. Do
we have to keep the spyware on our computers in order for other software
to run properly? Kind of seems illegal to me. I didn't restore anything
yet. As for doing a system restore, I would have to go too far back and
would lose too much.

Lisa

Ok I found them, I hadn't even deleted it yet, that's why I couldn't
find it! :-) They are below now.

There is also another thing SpyBot does and that is "fix wrong
application paths" and "missing DLL's) which is usually bogus. On every
PC that I've installed it, it finds a dozen+ "missing DLL's" and "wrong
application paths". You never said if you checked all boxes in the
results and removed all of them. Whether or not, you need to run the
SpyBot restore function to put back what it removed & changed. When you
run it again, only opt to remove spyware, malware, and various media
player paths, etc. Just don't fool with the wrong app paths and missing
DLL areas. Also, if you check the boxes next to some of the IE entries,
that will remove too much as well. You just have to read about each
one's description and decide if you want it removed.

Once you've restored what SpyBot did, maybe things will be back to
normal. Or maybe a system restore will work if you are on ME or XP Pro.
Check the WS FTP folder for an ini file (.ini configuration settings),
that's where the WS FTP logins are. You can't read the passwords in it,
but you can see the usernames. If you can find the file in SpyBot's
backup folder or maybe the recycle bin, you can just put it back in the
WS FTP folder to get them back. -Clint
