Hello again (using Internet Explorer 6 and Outlook Express 6),

Update on problem ... I now have Internet Explorer 6 and Outlook Express 6
running, and everything on the computer is working fine. The ONLY problem is
that when sending a txt document to myself in OE, although the icon shows up
upon clicking the paper clip, the label is greyed out (making the txt file
not accessible). I see this in both the Sent folder and the Inbox folder.

I haven't noticed any change in file types; Folder Options shows that Text
Document (Extension txt dic exe, whatever that means), Content Type (MIME)
text/plain (whatever all that means), is opening with Notepad.

The only change I made is that I'm using Notepad+ (I doubt if anyone still
uses the original Windows Notepad), and that should not be causing the
problem ... been using it for years. Both Notepad+ and the original Notepad
are working fine, but neither one opens in OE. Sounds like there is some
configuration in OE that is needed. Could it be something in the Registry
(that's my playground where I like to hang out). Any suggestions?

An aside ... I noticed in my last posting that my quotes and apostrophes all
looked like boxes. What's causing that? In my Options > Send > Mail Sending
Format I have Plain Text checked, and in News Sending Format I have HTML
checked. Should I change anything there that might be causing boxes. Right
now I'm typing right into the email window though sometimes I might type
into MSWord and copy into the email window. ... Harold
