Jo:
You should seriously consider the "one disk"
preparation for installing WinXP from the CD Rom
drive as suggested by Ben Moore.
I believe that you came up through the DOS ranks
so you should be able to do the following.
I have a startup disk from Win 98 that I use regularly
to boot to a dos prompt when I do not ( or cannot)
boot from the hard drive.
You can add fdisk to the floppy if you want to
format the C: drive at this time.
Make sure the autoexec.bat and
config.sys files contain the correct drivers for your
CDRom so it is recognized from the Dos prompt.
The drivers will also have to be on the floopy.
Then switch to the CDRom drive and select and
run the exe. file that will start the installation.
