Right off hand (and going on no sleep....again), are both PC's set the same in the BIOS for "PnP OS installed.....yes/no"? Does the one that doesn't recognize it have enough USB ports enabled in the BIOS? Is there a "Legacy USB" entry in the BIOS on that one? If so, that may have to be enabled.
Have you tried to go to "Add New Hardware" and have it scan automatically for new devices? I assume they are both XP PC's? If not, and it's a '98 PC, they sometimes need patches for certain USB devices. Is this device USB 2.0? If so, then maybe the PC doesn't support USB 2.0 devices. -Clint God Bless Clint Hamilton, Owner http://OrpheusComputing.com ----- Original Message ----- From: "LarryB" < I have a device that is recognized on one of my computers using the Windows XP while the other computer will not recognize this device. It will recognize other devices though. I was going to delete the USB items in the device manager but because I am using wireless Logitech keyboard and mouse I would be unable to use the computer anymore. When I install the device then go to device manager it shows up as "unknown device" and I have tried installing other drivers but nothing seems to help. There is no software with the device. (the device is a Iway 350 gps) Thanks -- LarryBrowning ============= PCWorks Mailing List ================= Don't see your post?
