I am working on both Macs and PC. Pics used in Word files tend to be of a
low resolution. Clients email us word documents and expect wonders. Is
there a way forward here?
Also, we create PDF's (on MACs) by first creating an EPS, and then
Distilling as a PDF using the "Newspaper Job Options". We get clients
sending advertising material created using various software packages, eg
Corel; Quark; FreeHand, etc. When we receive PDF's from these clients, we
open them up in Acrobat and export them back to EPS format (our
workflow-open quark document). With the "box of tricks" plugin we are able
to pick-up (upon exporting) RGB or LAB colours used in a particular job and
fix to CMYK. However this does not always work.

Could it be the way our clients are generating their PDF's or what. I know
of 1 client that uses Corel draw and publishes to PDF. When exporting his
PDF as an EPS, the warning box does not pop-up, hence his full colour job
previews full colour on screen, but prints black & white in the newspaper.
