You have two issues to address:

One, you need to make a PDF from Word, using Adobe Acrobat or other
alternatives.

Two, then you have to decide how you will rip the PDF (it will be in RGB
color mode).

Possible solutions are: to import it into your page layout program if that
program has the ability to convert RGB to CMYK during the rip process. Or,
you can use a tool such as Quite A Box of Tricks (http://www.quite.com) to
change the color space. Or, you use Acrobat 6.x Professional to
color-separate the PDF.

 Please explain how you create a PDF from Microsoft Word and on what
operating system this works on.

You see I'm in the newspaper business and we get a lot of clients who don't
have time to go to an agency to create designs for them. Some of these
clients simply send us a word documet which we cannot use.   HELP.
