I would upgrade but I'm working with users who mostly have 5.0 installed and I need to be testing with their configuration. Do you guys know why the pref is locked? Is there a pref in IE that is overriding the pref  in Acrobat 5 so that the item is shaded? I opened up Acrobat Reader 5 and went to preferences to make it open with Reader externally and the top most checkbox was shaded and couldn't be deselected. Does anyone know why this is, all the other options are selectable except this one.     Ed
