If the pages are from a photocopy, he may not have access to the original.

In that case, I would use Acrobat 6, and the FILE > CREATE PDF > FROM
SCANNER function.

The very best place to start is to ask politely (unless it is completely
impossible) if you can get the original file in Word (or whatever format it
