My answer is yes.

To test my theory I made a simple InDesign document on Windows using an Open
Type font. Then I printed a PS file.

I distilled the file on both my Mac and the PC. In both PDFs, the font was
embedded (and subset) with a TrueType designation.

A question for you, Rich--

Do you know if the answer to this changes if OpenType is used,
which--theoretically--is cross platform?
