I too suspect the problem is in the burning chain somewhere. As Michelle
said, if the files open fine off the HD of the computer that burned the CD,
then the problem is the burner (or in very rare cases) the media.

Transfer them to a different machine, burn and test, preferably with
different burning software. The two most popular packages on the PC are
likely Roxio's Easy CD Creator (ECDC) or Nero. I have used both to master
PDF collection discs for replication and internal burning and it has been
fine. Can't speak for 'shareware' type burning software.

Also I assume you have eliminated the PC that is trying to read the files ?
ie The disc is 'not working' in more than one machine right ?

The other thing you should make sure is that the CDs are being burned as
'ISO 9660 Joliet' 'Mode 1' (not multisession) and 'close' the disc (finalise
the TOC and bar further writing)

Report back on the results.
