Cutting a 200 page document down to 50 pages would require some
awesomely intelligent software.

In terms of size, nothing beats a simple text ( .txt ) file that's been
zipped. A 200 page document would easily fit in an e-mail attachment,
let alone 50 pages.

Also; if you go to ZDNET.com and search for a program called EasyOffice
- and download a rather large file - you can install a free, fully
functional office suite, WITH PDF creation. I cannot vouch for how
compatible the PDF is, but the office suite provides nominal
compatibility with MS Office.

If you cut and paste between the existing 200 pg PDF document and Easy
Office, you can convert the PDF to plaintext - albeit somewhat
laboriously. If there's graphics involved however, that would be a bit
trickier. Then if you WANT you can convert back into PDF, to retain
formatting.

Help !!!

I have to send in writing samples for a prospective job, and I can't cut

down the PDF files of my sample writing to a size I can e-mail. I had
FrameMaker at my old job, and the full Adobe Acrobat, now I only have
the
reader.

I tried a number of free products (995, CAD_KAS PDF Editor, JAWS PDF
Editor), and either - the document was too large and the program
crashed, or
the program just crashed, or my OS (Windows 98) is too old. I would sell
my
first born to get something that works... all I want to do is cut a 200
page
document down to about 50 pages.

Does anyone know of anything that I could use? I'm unemployed, so it
can't
be too expensive, and it has to work with Windows 98, and with large
documents.

Any help appreciated. Thanks :-)
