I have been able to get it working!!

Eventually all I did was to convert my BMP image into a JPEG, and then I read the file in binary format, converted the characters to strings.

I discovered that I painted my image in an incorrect object, so that was my error on the Acrobat side.

The most diffiicult thing is to understand how the objects relate to each other.
