Well, you don't really say what it has that makes it so worth the
(anticipated) money, but really - that's not what's so important anyway,
IMO. What is important is how much the thing will end up costing to
existing Pentax owners. I still don't see it being really successful even
if it does have some crazy unique features, unless it follows the
traditional Pentax feature set of light weight, good design, and lesser
price for comparable value and is marketed for us already in the Pentax
system. In other words, I stick to my statement that if it comes in at
$600.00 - $800.00 U.S. or so, then I'm on my way to NYC to handle it. But I
can't possibly imagine any new feature in a 35mm film camera that would make
very many people spend more than F100 money for it. And if it does start
out at $999.00 U.S., then I will wait a short period and see if it comes
down in price below whatever the F100 depreciates to.

Thanks,
Ed

promised to keep quiet about it though (sorry. I know its annoying). I do
not have the complete specifications so that cannot be sure but everything
so far points towards that this camera is better specified than the F100. I
does have a slightly slower shutter but this most likely done for saving
space. I do not know the fps rate either. The camera also have some neat,
never seen before feature. I addition, I have been told that its the
structurally stiffest Pentax ever and also that it has a viewfinder that
shows 98% of the frame (Pentax record). The camera has a molded in metal
chassis and both top an bottom and several other outer body parts are of
metal construction. It also sport an AF system that is some generations
ahead of the current Pentax SAFOX. However, I do not know whether all this
reached the production model; I guess it did based on the somewhat high
price. Also remember that the price is p!

would expect street price in the US at or below 1000USD. About a year ago
this camera was described to me as a Nikon F100+; that is all the features
of the F100 + some more. It was said that it would be sold at a slightly
lower price than the F100. I believe this is what will happen.
