Separate it from itself (so that it doesn't stick to itself). Let only the
edges of the negative touch whatever you use to separate it. Soak it in
distilled water for 20 minuets or more so that it can be unrolled without
cracking the gelatin. It will not become perfectly flat, but you should be
able to unroll it for contact print or enlargement without cracking the
gelatin. This usually works, but not always.
