Yes, this seems to be true.  My A* 200/4 Macro came with the S80-160 soft 
case/pouch, which I didn't care for very much at all.  The Pentax soft cases 
are built well (i.e., they are finsihed well), but they just don't offer too 
much impact resistance.  However, I was able to locate an HF-185B hard case 
later on (new, old stock), and I much prefer it for protecting that precious 
lens (and I gladly retired the S80-160, as a result).
