the difference in the K vs KA mount is the presence of the 'electrical
contacts' on the mount.
Program mode and shutter priority don't work without these contacts.

Functionality is equilivalent to using your present lense  (off the "a"
position)  -- i.e. in a mode
where you manually set the F/stop.   If you do not buy KA tubes you will have
to remember to
turn your lense off the 'A' position, and use the functionality that you get
in that mode.

There is no difference in metering as such.

Be aware of 'manual tubes' however.--- they have no connections for 'wide
open' metering
and will had a level of frustration to your life.
