It is seriously worse.  Are the archives up and running?  A few of us
weighed in with comments on this lens a couple of weeks ago, I think. 
Let me know if you can't find it and I'll see if I can find my post at
my end (but be warned, I'm not very organized).

The short version is that the contrast is poor and sharpness is
seriously lacking, especially at the 28 and 105 ends.  On a 4x6 print, I
was unimpressed with it.  If you have the FA 28-70, you'll be really
disappointed by this lens.  On the other hand, it is pretty cheap for
how fast it is, and if you need the speed and are on a tight budget, it
would do okay.  However, I'd stick with the FA 28-70.
