Well, if thats what they come out with then I'll be
buying exactly 0 of them.

Given that this would make them unusable on not only
older models, but the _entire_ current range of cameras
still in production, with the exception of the MZ-S, I
think this is unlikely.  But then, I never like to
underestimate the stupidity of corporate marketing...
