Well, perhaps it is time for some visual aids.

Where I tested fim that Kodak themselves said was designed to be
pushed (PJ 800) clearly losing shadow detail as the speed was
"increased" by increasing the development time as per Kodak's
instructions.
Alas, Aaron, I suspect you are correct, though.
