I am a big fan of the Photogenic Photomaster system. It is a box
and cable set, which some don't like. I like having all the
controls for all the lights in one location (there are some
robot systems now for monolights). The light quality from the
Genies is superb, the equipment is compact and very well built.
Monolights have cables running all over the place as well, and
require heavier duty stands with a wider footprint to keep them
stable. Box and cable sets also cost less.
