Subject: RE: OT: Americans rewriting history

I suspect there was a big change in American philosophy after
Dec. 6, 1941 WRT the Axis countries. Ford may well have had a
change of heart due to unforseen circumstances.
Please note, I wasn't around at that time, but I had a father
who served in Sicily and Holland, and an Uncle who was a US
marine who served in the Pacific theatre. Both were students of
history, and liked to sit around my uncle's patio in Libby
Montana with a bottle Jimmy Beam's finest telling war stories
and comparing the philosophies of their country's leaders of the
day. I found these conversations absolutely rivetting as a young
boy. Much of what I know (think I know?) about the period came
from these two men.
