Subject: Autofocus use declining
I almost hate to open up this can of
worms again. But over the weekend my
wife commented on how I almost never use
my ZX-5n. She made me realize that in
the last year my use of auto focus has
declined sharply. As many of you
eagerly await the MZ-S I find myself
debating the purchase of more screwmount
equipment or slowly growing my small
Contax collection. As we all know this
list is populated many who prefer MF but
do any of you who own both AF and MF
systems find yourself using one far more
than the other. For me the choice to
use MF wasn't necessarily a conscious
one however there are a few key factors.
1. Feel- None of my AF gear feels as
solid or a durable as my manual focus
stuff.
2. Durability- I will and have taken my
k1000 places no camera should go and
it's never let me down.
3. Control- I'm a control freak, I
admit it and before you can say use your
AF gear in MF mode I can preemptively
say it's not the same.
4. Nostalgia- The K1000 was my first
camera I grew up using MF and it just
feels more natural to me. Combine that
with me being and old fashioned guy by
nature and I gravitate toward the old
way.
So how about you?

P.S. Bob Walkden, how is that Contax
gear holding up my 159mm is very nice
but I long for an RX or RTS.
