In terms of resolution, the most that the human eye can resolve is 8 lp/mm at a distance of 12 - 18 inches. This is the starting point for deriving what is needed for the resolution of the individual pieces (film, lens, etc. ) of the imaging system. The short answer is that with perfect technique (for 35mm), and nothing more than a crop to format, you can't see the difference between formats at print sizes of 8x10 and smaller. (This is resolution only.)
BR From: Kevin Waterson <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> How big can we blow up images in 35mm MF and LF and still maintain good detail? I would be keen to hear particularly the MF and LF max sizes.
