Thanks for the cudos. I'm not sure if the L converter versions work with the A 400/5.6. But I know for sure that they don't work with SMC Pentax 400/5.6. And while I suspect that these lenses are similar, they are not identical. If the L converter fits, it would probably be superior to the S converter in a 400mm focal length. Unfortnately, I don't own enough glass to test this hypothesis. In any case, you can't go wrong with the pentax A2X-S or the Pentax A2X-L. The are both very good optically and will provide excellent results. They only downsides are slow speed (f11 with either wide open) and a less than bright viewfinder. But I'm old and half blind, and they work for me. Best, Paul
