Dave, This is the lens I sold on Ebay for $240 US I had to have mine serviced by Kominek (http://www.kominek.com) to fix a few bad coils/rings inside the lens.
If the lens at the Pawn shop is only $149 CDN, then I'd say go for it. Even if you have to pay the $170 CDN I paid for the service, you're still going to come out way ahead. It's a great lens. Will look a bit bulky on the K1000 but it's an awesome lens. The macro isn't half bad - if you don't currently have a macro lens, this one does a reasonable job. Doesn't compare to the Sigma 90mmm macro I had or the Pentax 100mm macro but it does ok for a zoom. What got me is the constant aperture throughout the zoom - that's a big bonus. Cheers, Dave P.S. I had to trek way down to the other end of the Eaton Centre yesterday to drop off my pants to be shortened. Needless to say I missed you at Henry's. My apologies - but the poster will look awesome once framed :) -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Saturday, December 28, 2002 4:51 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Macro on the SMC A 35-105 f 3.5 Hi All. I have read the comments on Stan's site in regard to this lens, all were favoribale, but not any mention of the macro. Anyone care to comment on the lens AND the macro feature. The chain ,Henrys , has one for $404 Can but i found one at a pawn type' store for $149 Can in fair to good condition.Looked like a tiny bubble or something in the elements. (lens was very dust too,so might have been that.I had no clothe with me)Not sure if its fungus or a flaw.Might pick it up and have a good look. They have a 30 day return policy. Also anyone other than Jeff(emailed him directly)have expereince with the Fuji GS645 folder. Thanks in advance Dave
