Actually, if price isn't a huge object, Nikon's 28-105 is well-built and has a 1:2 macro at the longer end of its zoom range. Couple that with an F55 or F65 and she has a nice all-round kit. If she prefers to stay with Pentax, most of the standard zooms should do around 1:4, and she could always pop on an extension tube for the really close stuff. chris
