Actually, because of the diminishing CCD sensor size and the requirement of only a small image circle (it uses 1/2.5" CCD; for comparison, 330RS uses larger 1/1.8" CCD), designing smaller and faster lens is relatively easier than 35mm P&S. And this aperature range is only slightly above average for digital P&S. Nevertheless, with SMC, I do have high expectation of this lens.
